Chart patterns I thought were difficult to do because charts just don't tell you instructions by letters. I've learn recently that charts when knitting can be very useful. So I began to play around with some graph paper and doodle some designs out. Much time, erasing, and crumpled up papers later...I found Excel to be a better choice when designing patterns. I've made quite a few patterns since I learned how to read charts. Now I'm working on making my family tartans (from both sides of my family) into patterns in Excel so I can knit it. It will take much of my time because the tartans are complex but I think I can mange it somehow.
Happy Knitting!
