The Family Pattern Success

I finally managed to get the Johnstone tartan and the Campbell tartan onto an Excel spreadsheet for a pattern to knit. I admit that it was frustrating and I did want to leave the project alone but I finally got it finished on Thursday.

This is my chart for the Campbell tartan. It looks funny with the colors I used but I know what the colors on my chart stand for.

The Johnstone tartan chart. I found one that had 4 black lines and used that one for my chart.

I hope to make an afghan or two or three (one of each and then one with both) but I'll be keeping it simple and knit the squares individually and sew it all together in the end.

Chart Patterns

Chart patterns I thought were difficult to do because charts just don't tell you instructions by letters. I've learn recently that charts when knitting can be very useful. So I began to play around with some graph paper and doodle some designs out. Much time, erasing, and crumpled up papers later...I found Excel to be a better choice  when designing patterns. I've made quite a few patterns since I learned how to read charts. Now I'm working on making my family tartans (from both sides of my family) into patterns in Excel so I can knit it. It will take much of my time because the tartans are complex but I think I can mange it somehow.

Happy Knitting!

drawings

These are some of the drawings I did before art class:
chalk pastel. this was a gift for my mom's b-day.

first water color painting. I was just playing around seeing it I could do water color. These are Cherry Blossoms (one of my favorite flowers)

one the first chalk pastel drawings I did. Lotus flower.

I was very much into drawing Lotus flowers...no background needed to make it look better. Also chalk pastel

Louisiana brown Pelican in once again chalk pastel.

another lotus only this time in water color
Who Dat tulips in water color. I painted this during the Super Bowl when the Saints won ^_^

These are during my art class: most are drawn in charcoal which is VERY messy.
